Student Testimonial

Dear Donor,

I am a master's of public policy candidate at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. I previously worked on digital policy in Brussels.

As a convinced transatlanticist, I believe that it is possible for the EU and the US to learn and profit from one another. Both are facing incredible challenges when it comes to adequately regulating the Big Tech industry. Those companies hold monopolies that undermine fair competition. The EU has already regulated those companies through the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act.

Since the Brussels effect has shown that big corporations often align their standards with EU requirements, it is crucial for the United States to take digital policy from the EU seriously and learn from its successes and mistakes. This will allow the US to combat the threats of insufficient data privacy and infringement of digital rights in this digital age.

Here at the McCourt School, we thrive from different perspectives and include different experiences in our research. Digital policy is an important topic on which to learn from one another and research the best solutions for tackling challenges in the digital age, such as adequately regulating Big Tech companies.

Your support makes a difference for us! Funding and supporting our work will empower us to develop the best solutions and advocate for a modern digital policy in the US.

Sincerely,
Anonymous
