The Next Generation:

Science & Technology Policy

Policy isn’t just shaped in Congress — it’s influenced every day by research organizations, nonprofits, and advocacy groups fighting for the causes we care about.

On January 16, 2025, master’s students from Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy hosted a "Write-a-Thon" to highlight the efforts of organizations working outside traditional political power structures to drive positive change in science and technology policy.

For the Write-a-Thon, student organizers identified pressing technological challenges—such as national defense and digital rights for marginalized communities—and highlighted existing organizations that are uniquely positioned to address these issues.

This information was complied into clear, user-friendly resource guides, designed to connect these organizations with donors in need of opportunities to support impactful work. In addition, the students drafted personal letters and testimonials of support for the causes they advocated for.

The website you're exploring acts as a resource hub, highlighting key, timely issues in science and technology policy and the organizations dedicated to tackling them. The goal is to inspire action and ensure that these organizations have the necessary support to continue their vital work. By connecting meaningful causes with individuals who can make a difference, this platform hopes to drive lasting, positive change in the field of tech policy.

The Write-a-Thon united eight McCourt student organizations, each focused on different issues—ranging from defending the rights of diverse communities to addressing key science and technology sectors like defense, finance and individual rights.
